Our Story

Put the kettle on and pull up a pew as we’ve got a tale to tell…

The Year is 2009…

The soundtrack? Janglie indie. The jeans? (Still) skinny. Former stylist and personal shopper Judy Berger is enjoying success with her eponymous vintage fair, bringing six decades of fashion and homewares from Bethnal Green to Aberdeen. Vintage style is on the ascent, made popular by the likes of Sienna Miller and Florence Welch (the latter who liked to pop in) all looking for unique pieces and a cool alternative to the High Street. It was there, amongst the Aran knits and ‘80s sequins, that a new idea took shape…

Fast-forward five short years…

...As we look out across East London’s York Hall. Gone are the boxing rings from the Bethnal Green venue, with two and a half tonnes of vintage clothing in its place. The idea? Vintage shopping where you could buy by weight, starting at just £15 per kilo. Brought to life by the team at Glass Onion [Europe’s largest vintage wholesaler] and featuring four decades of trends, it was a revolutionary way to shop for retro – ‘vintage fashion at scale.’

So here we are…

Over a decade on and the world has changed immensely since those days. With hundreds of events under our belt, how could we adapt them to fit the new normal?

They say that necessity is the mother of invention and soon, a new idea came to light: let’s take the experience of shopping at The Vintage Kilo Sale and put it in the palm of your hand. Using the latest technology, our online events let you swipe through the rails as if you were there in the room. Shop by size, weigh up your items and have them delivered from only £15 per kilo. It’s vintage shopping for the internet age (and we’re thrilled that you’re along for the ride).
